Year of St Joseph

Prayer to St Joseph

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted His only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.

Pope Francis announced the “Year of St. Joseph” which began on December 8, 2020, and will conclude on December 8, 2021. According to the Decree authorised by the Pope, a “Year of St. Joseph” is established so that “every member of the faithful, following his example, may strengthen their life of faith daily in the complete fulfilment of God’s will. Read the Holy Father’s Apostolic Letter dedicated to the Foster Father of Jesus Christ, and titled Patris corde (“With a father’s heart”).

A Poem for Saint Joseph

When the baby borned
Joseph said to Mary,
“What am I going to do about
This little born Jesus Baby Christ?
I never knew it was going to be like this,
With all these Angels and Kings
And Shepherds and stars and things.
It’s got me worried, I can tell you.
On Christmas Day in the morning.”
Mary said to Joseph,
“Not to worry my darling
Dear old darling Joseph.
Everything’s going to be all right
Because the angel told me not to fear.
So just hold up the lamp
So I can see the dear, funny, sweet, little face
Of my darling little born Jesus Baby Christ.”

And Joseph said to Mary,
“Behold the handyman of the Lord.”
