The Second Collection on the weekend of 9th June will be a special one to raise much needed funds for a school in Zimbabwe. The school is sponsored by a Mission which is run by Fr. Tim Peacock whom the parish has raised funds for in the past.
The primary school had a zero exam success rate until the new head teacher Mr Dube Muleya took over last year and now the exam pass rate is 5%.
They had no books and so could not read. A charity has since donated 1200 books but the library is tiny and has no shelving.
The head teacher wants to extend the building and also install electricity for computers and an admin block. Estimated cost of this project will be £5000.
