Altar Serving
Published on
Being an altar server is a special ministry that allows young people to actively participate in the celebration of the Mass, assisting the priest and helping the liturgy to flow with reverence and dignity.
Altar servers are involved in all aspects of the Mass, carrying the cross and candles, preparing the altar, assisting with the missal and vessels, and supporting the priest during the liturgy. Serving at the altar is both a privilege and a responsibility, requiring commitment and attentiveness, with a spirit of prayerfulnes.
Anyone who has made their First Holy Communion is eligible to become an altar server. Servers are expected to commit to serving at least once a week, and to take part in occasional training sessions and special liturgies throughout the year.
